"Ο τόμος ούτος, πρώτον μέρος του όλου έργου του αοιδίμου Αθαν. Σ. Λεκατσά, του ονομασθέντος παρ' αυτού του ίδιου "Η Ομηρική Ιθάκη" περιλαμβάνει την τοπογραφία της Ιθάκης την Ομηρικήν τοιαύτην, καθώς και την ιστορία αυτής από της αρχαιοτάτης εποχής μέχρι του 1503 δηλαδή μέχρι της εποχής εκείνης, καθ' ην η Ιθάκη, η Κεφαλληνία και η Ζάκυνθος περιήλθον οριστικώς υπό την κυριαρχία της Ενετίας..."
